Interview Question Answers – What Not to Say

Interview Question Answers – What Not to Say

You must have read several articles that outline how best to answer Interview Questions in an attempt to clear that crucial job interview. However, what you are about to read now aims at mentioning some of the worst answers that anyone can possibly give to common interview questions.

Reality Check: If you feel any of these answers are your own, it is probably time to understand exactly where you are going wrong and reconsider how best you should tackle that oh-so important job interview -

1. Why did you leave your last job?
“Everyone hated me, and I hated them back. My boss always pointed out my mistakes in front of others and I couldn’t take it anymore!”

2. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I don’t know. I have never thought about it – I keep changing my mind and so I can’t decide what I should do next.

3. What did you like most about your last job?
I would really have to think hard about this one since I couldn’t bear my last boss, never got along with my co-workers and hated what I did.

4. What according to you are your weaknesses?
I get nervous easily and I am short tempered. I dislike taking orders and find it very hard to get up early / on time in the mornings.

5. Why are you interested in this job?
The top reason – my last office was very far. I disliked travelling so far. This office on the other hand, it just 10 mins away so I won’t have to compromise on my sleep by unnecessarily waking up early.

6. Do you have any questions for us?
Yes plenty. How many sick days will I get? Are Saturdays’ off? Do you have provisions for kids’ day care? Can I work from home every now and then?

Before answering even a single Interview Question, think about its repercussions on your candidature. Even though it is recommended to be yourself while answering questions, you must not throw caution to the wind. What you say and how you answer these questions will affect your profile and the decision to hire you or not.
